2.1e, AMCA, and ZiMo oh my!
post-launch playtest update: 2.1e
hello rogues! firstly, i am so excited to share that a few weeks ago, i quietly pushed a small post-launch playtesting update to going rogue 2e which i'm dubbing 2.1e. this update is mostly small, and simply:
- fixes a few typos
- trims down moves on The Bond to make it a bit more manageable
- clarifies some special case rules for the Sacrifice fate when the party gets split
these are all small changes, but based on additional playtesting post-launch, i believe they'll improve the experience! the PDFs have the same names, but make sure to redownload the new ones with the changes if you're planning to play a game of gr2e!
going rogue 2e on A More Civilized Age
i am unbelievably excited to share with you a link to a special episode of the Star Wars podcast A More Civilized Age in which i appear as a guest to facilitate a game of going rogue 2e! the end result was a delightful and i believe, at times, heartrending 5 hour podcast episode in which i facilitate and play my game alongside Friends at the Table's Austin Walker & Ali Acampora, and Waypoint/Waypoint alumna Rob Zacny and Natalie Watson! all 4 are such talented storytellers, and i think it's a fantastic demonstration of the game, and i encourage you to give it a listen! you can also share the episode on twitter here, and look at some cool fanart here.
48 hours to back Zine-o-Maps vs Mini-Adventure, a ZiMo fantasy map zine
i also want to share that i am a contributor to a cool Zine Month project Zine-o-Maps vs Mini-Adventure, or ZVM! it's a 2 book zine by David Glass featuring cartography by David and one-page adventures written by me, going rogue 2e's design consultant satah, and going rogue 2e's development playtester Rhiannon Daly.
with 35 hand-drawn maps, GMs have a variety of locations to drop into their existing games, or run as a one-shot. the 35 mini-adventures provided in Book 2 are system-neutral can be added to any fantasy campaign in virtually any system.
this is a bit different than the usual GM-less science-fiction space i am known for working in, but i think it was an exciting opportunity to return to my TTRPG roots in fantasy and see what i and my cowriters could do with it, not to mention that we brought a lot of diversity to the adventures. while they're generally within a fantasy umbrella, the maps range from mystery to horror to classic dungeon crawl to comedic pastiche to all sorts of strange fantasy genre mashing. i've included an example double-map adventure below.
there are only 48 hours left in the crowdfunder, so if this interests you, check it out ASAP!
